Student Officials
School Sport Australia (SSA) presents a range of SSA Championships on an annual basis. These Championships occur all around the country, with opportunities not only for student athletes, but also for student officials to represent their state as a member of Team Vic.
SSV is seeking an expression of interest from interested students who wish to represent their state as a student official. For further information on the different roles available, please refer to the 2025 Student Official Calendar, which lists:
the relevant sport and age group
the Championship dates and locations
specific roles available for each sport
Students selected to represent SSV at the SSA Championships are considered full members of the Team Vic team in that sport, participating in all experiences that the selected student athletes participate in. Additionally, student officials are offered coaching and mentoring through their participation at the SSA Championship event.
SSV may only provisionally select student officials who meet the following criteria:
of an appropriate age dependent on the SSA Championship they are applying to be selected for - generally at the same age or older than the Championship age group
hold an appropriate level of accreditation
have a reasonable level of experience - which is to be approved by the relevant National Sport Advisor
have permission from their school principal to attend the SSA Championship
If selected, student officials may be invited to assist with the selection trials and team training in the lead up to the SSA Championship event, as well as take part in the team presentation and photo session.
Financial assistance to support the participation of student officials may also be available - this potentially takes the form of a travel subsidy offered by SSA, which at Wednesday, 01 January 2025 is based on the following:
Category 1 - Intrastate Travel | Category 2 - Interstate Travel |
$100.00 | $400.00 |
Families can also look to utilise SSV’s fundraising partner, the Australian Sports Foundation to support with the costs of participation. Families are responsible for their own child’s travel arrangements, including transport, accommodation and supervision whilst attending the Championship.
Registrations for interested student officials are now open.
