What is SSV Play - Circus?
Circus incursions are designed to get all students participating and foster enthusiasm and excitement for circus that continues well beyond the sessions.
The program is designed to be fun and have a social, non-competitive focus. The circus activities can be tailored for primary, secondary and specialist school students and will be inclusive of students from all backgrounds, genders, and abilities.
During the one-hour program, the Circus program will cover a range of physical activities catered to the age and abilities of the students. Sessions may include plate spinning, juggling, hula hoops, devil sticks, and for a more active program acro balance activities. The program can be adapted to include scarves and ribbons for younger students and poi spinning for older students.
All sessions will be delivered by a trained circus instructor.
How many students can participate?
SSV Play - Circus will be delivered as a one-day incursion for 100 students. This includes four one-hour sessions, with 25 students able to participate in each session.
If you are a smaller school and do not have 100 students, please consider if you can partner with another nearby school to meet this requirement. Alternatively, you can apply for Diversity Dash where no minimum student limits apply.
If you have more than 100 students, consider selecting specific classes within your school that might benefit most and fit the 100-student maximum.
At the end of the school incursion, Ruccis Circus staff will advise teachers on how to support students to continue circus activities in the schoolyard during recess, lunchtime or at home with family and friends.
When can we participate in SSV Play - Circus?
SSV Circus will only be delivered in Term 3 and 4 in 2023. Please note your preferred term on your Expression of Interest form.
Where is SSV Play - Circus delivered?
SSV Play - Circus will be delivered at your school in your school gym, schoolyard, or any other space that works.
