Vale Gayle Anderson

It is with great sadness that we share the news of the sudden passing of Gayle Anderson.

Gayle worked with the Victorian Primary Schools Sports Association (VPSSA) and the Victorian Secondary Schools Sports Association (VSSSA) from 1991 – 2008 in a range of roles which included being a Team Vic team official with the VPSSA Cross Country teams, Pacific School Games team for Track & Field and working as the VSSSA Eastern Zone Officer. But her passion was Athletics as a Heptathlete who then progressed into becoming a decorated official with Victoria and Oceania, including a role at the Sydney 2000 Olympics. She also saw international duties as an official with the ISF Cross Country team in Riga, Latvia.

Gayle was awarded a VPSSA Service Award in 2002.

Gayle was a kind-hearted person who would volunteer to help anyone in need. This was most evident in her work as a teacher and coach of students as well as a mentor to officials in the Cook Islands helping to improve the skills of the nation. She was keen to see students involved in school sport and worked or volunteered to make this happen.

SSV sends condolences to the family and friends of Gayle Anderson and acknowledges the contribution she made as a member of the SSV family.

If anyone would like to make a donation in Gayle's memory her family has endorsed the following organisations
