SSV and Rebel Partnership Announcement
26/10/2022

School Sport Victoria, as part of the Department of Education and Training, is excited to announce a two-year major partnership with rebel, Australia's leading sports retailer, through until the end of 2024.

The partnership sees rebel supporting School Sport Victoria's programs, particularly the primary school interschool sport program, along with being the Victorian Teachers' Games sport stream major partner.

School Sport Victoria delivers an extensive school sport program to more than 2,300 Victorian school members, including over 30 sports in the interschool sport program and 19 sports in the Team Vic state representative program. The Victorian Teachers' Games is an annual multi-sport event held in the Term 3 school holiday's for Victorian educators to participate, connect and be inspired.

Playing sport can provide so many benefits to students, and school is often where children play a sport for the first time – and for some, it is their only opportunity to play sport.

The partnership is based on the shared values between SSV and rebel, including encouraging participation in sport and physical activity which provides many positive physical, mental and social benefits.

"School Sport Victoria is proud to partner with rebel given the strong alignment with our 10-year strategy and clear vision to engage more Victorian students to participate in school sport," said Rayoni Nelson, CEO, SSV.

"As outlined in the School Sport Victoria's Strategic Directions 2020 to 2030, our purpose is to develop young people through school sport and we aim to provide 800,000 school sport participation opportunities to Victorian students by 2030," Nelson said.

"Rebel's vision is to inspire all Australians to chase their sporting dreams and passions. It is really important that we work together on getting kids back onto the courts, fields and tracks and back into grassroots participation," said Gary Williams, Managing Director, rebel.

Ro Martin, General Manager eCommerce and Marketing, rebel, said: "The breadth and reach of School Sport Victoria's work aligns with rebel's ambitions to get kids out and active and into the game.  Rebel is an advocate for the transformative power of sport and the associated benefits on your health and wellbeing which is critically important for Victorian students.

rebel will be supporting School Sport Victoria at interschool sport events over the next two-years, commencing with the 2022 Primary Track and Field State Championships on Wednesday 2 November being held at Lakeside Stadium.
